Envisioning the future: imagining the human and the society of the future

Imagining the society of the future is a challenging and fascinating task, certainly essential to navigate the path towards "tomorrow" with greater awareness. The latest scientific discoveries, from Life Sciences to technology, to economic models, are already tracing some trajectories of this journey, helping to outline the changes that will transform our society in the short and long term.

What are the trajectories of society in the long term? What impacts will scientific and technological developments have on our way of living? How will we change as a result?

The objective of this meeting is to track the trajectories of the future, interacting with experts operating in some of the most transformative fields: from genetics to exponential technology, to socio-economic issues.

In particular:

  • Matthew Brown, geneticist, will share the disruptive potential of genomic development in the medical field and consequently on people's lives
  • Enrico Giovannini, economist, will share an analysis of possible scenarios for our society and possible models for building a sustainable future
  • Maarten Steinbuch, scientist, will reflect on the shift from a linear thinking model to an exponential one, made necessary by the acceleration of technological evolution and the pervasiveness that future devices will have in citizens' lives and businesses
  • Patricia Viel, architect, shares her future vision of cities in the urban century.
